The Nationwide Search for Duke

Updated: Jan 2

If you found this page from our flyer QR code, thank you for coming to read more about the nationwide search for Duke!

Our beloved dog Duke disappeared during an attempted carjacking on September 22, 2023. Two armed men stole Duke at gunpoint at 9 PM in Fort Washington, Maryland. For more details, check out this post for the full story, plus the latest updates and media coverage.

Police told us that Duke could be ANYWHERE in the country, so we're trying to spread his story and photos widely for wherever he may resurface. We created this page to share information about Duke, plus more photos and videos in case you think you've spotted him!

Have you seen Duke?

Police said Duke could be relocated or resold anywhere in the country. He could also be used for dogfighting, caged for illegal breeding, or he could have been relocated and then released or escaped. Below we've shared more photos and videos of Duke as a reference, in case you think you've seen him.

If you're wondering whether you spotted Duke, here is what he looks like walking out and about.

Searching Far and Wide

We have contacted every vet, shelter, and groomer national associations that we could find.

FOX News shared Duke's story with their national audience. Viewers as far as California have contacted us after seeing Duke on the news.

Our posts on social media have been reshared globally. We've seen Duke's image and description be reposted from Australia to Spain!

All of this means that at least 400,000 people are already alerted to Duke's theft and possible relocation everywhere in the country.

With this many eyes looking out for Duke, someone is bound to see him. The key to finding Duke is to continue pushing his story! Thank you for being a part our effort to spread awareness of our missing buddy.

Support the Search

To find Duke, we’ve hired scent-tracking dogs, bought ads on Facebook and Instagram, distributed flyers via USPS, met with private detectives, printed well over a thousand handouts, and run down dozens and dozens of tips. For $40, we can mail flyers of Duke to 200 homes through USPS! If anyone wanted to support the search for Duke, friends created this GoFundMe.

If you'd like to follow along with the search, we share updates in this blog post and on this NextDoor post.

We hope we can find Duke with your help. Please call, text, or email with any sightings, tips, or advice!
